I had a chance to start mocking up the new pressure pipe. It is not perfect, but I can only trial and error so much before I use my limited materials. I still need to mock up the mounting tabs before heading down to the Lab to have it welded up.
I also was attempting to refurb my injectors (really all I wanted to do was put new o-rings on) and the hats that came with the kit a taller than the original 3B ones. The problem is that I destroyed one of the 3B ones removing it to put on the new hat. I should’ve just left it, but too late now. The problem is that the taller hat does not leave any excess width in the o-ring groove for expansion when inserted into the bore. I think it would still work and seal, but I don’t really like it that way.
The part number for the kit seems to be right. Any suggestions? I thought I saw something about this at some point, but couldn’t find it again. I have the remaining four kits, but may try to return them and just get the o-rings.
I ran down to the Lab today to drop off a few things and have some work done. I got to meet Hank (ShavedQuattro) and Dave (Hybrid Hatch) from MG in person finally. Good times.
Anyway, Hank now offers a service called ‘weld while u wait’
I had this pressure pipe to seal up, a hydraulic hose to fix, a metal coolant pipe to modify, and an intercooler tab to fix. Awesome work!
